Literacy course

The aim of the literacy course is to

• to teach the basics of the German language (speaking, listening, reading, writing),
• to master the alphabet with confidence
• master simple everyday situations linguistically,
• prepare for the German Test for Immigrants (DTZ).

At the end of the course you will be able to

• hold simple conversations,
• read and write short texts,
• fill out official forms and
• find your way around independently in everyday life.

The course is aimed at:

• People who want to learn or improve their reading and writing skills
• Immigrants who speak little or no German
• People who are learning a Latin script for the first time (e.g. Arabic or Cyrillic writers)

• A literacy course consists of:
• 900 teaching hours (TU) of literacy training (basic phase)
• 300 units of revision (if required)
• A total of up to 1,200 lessons
• Lessons take place part-time or full-time, depending on the course offered.

• With a certificate of eligibility: € 2.29 per lesson
• Exemption from costs is possible (e.g. if you receive citizen's allowance or housing benefit)
• Participation is free of charge with full exemption
